    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

" Freeman Dyson has said that, while physicists know that SDI was a fraud, it was a great way to get funding. So much for "morally forcing".

So much for morality, if you condone that. I don't.

Now, I am off to the lab. To see that some people, who, for all their limitations, are acting in good faith, can get some facts checked, where right answers matter a great deal. Not an easy thing to do. Time consuming. Awkward. But if core facts are right, there is hope. If core facts are wrong, essential kinds of hope are denied.

Robert,

I have watched this forum for a while without participation, including your discussion with jqb00. He is right assuming that I correctly disclosed my identity. I am exactly who I said I am.

I don't have anything to add at this point, other then to wish you success in our common desire to make this planet a safer and better place to live. Or at least, to prevent it becoming worst.

Alex.

Interesting that Russia is looking to partner with Germany more extensively on the commercial level, indicating that Germany (with the experience of pulling Eastern Germany into the fold) can be helpful to Russia - and at the same time help itself.

On truth/lies and death camps. Isn't this just the type of thing that Showlater followed through with on the London_TheGuardian thread http://talk.guardian.co.uk/WebX?13@@.ee7b085/204 i note my last post Silence ... so let's rephrase the first sentence 'truth/lies/silence and death camps.

On the second world war issue, the resources of all were stretched. The ultimate leaders would see the ending of the war in the fastest time as the way of ultimating 'limiting' the number of dead - however killed.

That death camps arise relates exactly to Showalter's hypothesis that there are 'inner groups' and 'outer groupings' ... that people can designate others as 'outer_s' at less than human value, enables the concept of the death camp.

Showalter also demonstrates how people can be so dehumanised by SS type techniques .. and those people flowed through into the American System and 'genetically' continue within the functionings of the American foreign policy mind.

This is demonstrated by Bush in his search for an 'outer' rogue European State to 'nuke' ... Europe stuck together. His search then looked to a 'rogue' China .. and his insistence and diplomatic rudeness here caused a reaction from China in their bringing in the Spy Plane. Yet a China comment (above) "send us your tourists not your spy planes" .. shows that the concern of China is for commerce and trade --- giving WEALTH the enabler that will allow the people of China to enjoy a middle class which in turn brings with it a call for increased democracy. This in turn will bring Human Rights and improved law and remove the political junta.

On Putin -- his recent statement regarding his desire to stand apart from the MTV debarcle, that has overshadowed the GermanRussia conference, is Statesman-ish. He could have followed it up by asserting that he would be happy for other 'free press' bodies additional to Turner to move into Russia and establish themselves.

On Putin again ... it can be argued that digital monitoring of text is happening by both the C IA and by P utin. Note my spaces (i don't want my computer attached and invaded). Also note that the sentence was in clear -- yet hidden! :) I'm really getting into all this communications stuff!

On this thread .. personally i'm not one bit interested in the AlphaMales locking in head to head battle over the past posts above. Life's too short!

My interest is in opening up dialogue as it happens relating to a Russian alternative to their being forced into renewed Missile Building .. in respect of Alex's grandchild and all the children who will mature into the adults of the Twenty First Century .. let's clean up the DIRT and give them the freedom to bask in the wonders of knowledge without suffering the cloud and fear of 'outer' for in MD terms that means the destruction of the world

---

[ incidentally: A guy's changed his name to 'dot COM' ... (dot used to be Dorothy, wonder if he wears red shoes) ... probably because 'Digital Futures' are the way ahead :) ]

almarst-2001 your posts are extraordinary -- how I'd like to meet you. You could look me up in the Madison phone book ---- but what I'd really like is a videoconference - easy to do from Boston to Madison -- my treat. It would be wonderful to meet you. I may have some reasons to be going to the Boston area soon. It would be great to meet.

I've found your viewpoint most interesting.

I don't know if the Russian government notices this thread at all, and as jbq00 has pointed out, odds seem against it. Though Putin seems to be doing so well, lately, that it doesn't matter. But if the Russian goverment could really trace some of the "complex cooperations" going on between me and others at the University of Wisconsin, and the history of what has gone on, they might learn some interesting things, about how good solutions can be crafted between old "enemies" under complicated circumstances.
