    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

Our enemy wanted that all to go out the door on September 11, applaez. It didn't; but, things have changed. Get your head out of the sand, applez. Does status quo seem to prevail for you? What if the September 11 attack had happened in London? Would you still feel the same? Look at the news. The US has been brutally attacked with about 7,000 dead. Should we just ignore that until it happens again? How many recurrances would it take to change your mind? Still, you haven't seen any bombs fly form the US side yet. Do you wonder why? Think about it.

Have you forgotten that the same happened in London not so long ago and the the USA rescued Great Britiain (and itself) from a similar foe to the one that now faces us all? Had you been alive in that time, would you have objected to the US standing up to save Great Britiain? Are you a big Nevillie Chaimberlain fan? Do you think that Winston Churchill should have said "We will surrinder on the beaches, fields and wherever you attack?" Get serious, applez.

Questions:

Why can't the United States get the military capabilities, combined perhaps with other capabilities, needed to assure the objectives of missile defense?..."

We can and are. You're the nay-sayer here, Robert! You're the one who's trying to prevent that.

"...If we had these capabilities, what would stand in the way of our being able to use them with the consent, and approval, of the great majority of people in the world?..."

The great majority of people in the world, except our attackers, should would have nothing to say about our defense of ourselves except perhaps "congratulations". Why should they? BMD is a defensive tool. Why should anybody but an attacker care how many defensive missiles we use? The only way such missiles could harm anyone is by thwarting a missile attack they launched against us. Why should we worry about what anybody else thinks about that? No other sane nation would hesitate to use such a defense if they had it and were attacked. Do you think that the Russians would hesitate to use their ABM system if they were attacked? I hope not. Would you ask your neighbors for their opinion before you chased a killer out of your house?

"...I think the answers can be blocked out,..."

Bolocked out? Just what do you mean by that Robert? Feeling a bit OBE, are you?

"...and a good deal of that blocking out has already been done,..."

You're still not making any sense, Robert...

"...on a dry run basis, on this board..."

Dry run basis for what, Robert? That's in your imagnination. Who do you think actually reads all this...stuff? Get serious.

Your last statement is up to your usual standard of unfathomability. OBE is the only rational explaniation that comes to mind...
